While the first stage of Anti British uprisings in Indian princely states witnessed the struggle of the rulers of these states against the British for their own survival, the movements in the second stage were characterized by the uprisings of the people against the oppressive rule of their own native rulers. Since most of the princely states were subservient to the British, peoples’ movement also had the character of anti-colonial movement.
