    Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was a prominent Hindu saint of the 16th century who was born in Mayapur, India. He promoted the Vaishnava tradition of Bhakti yoga, which focuses on devotion to Lord Krishna. As a child, he showed an early interest in Krishna and was drawn to chanting Krishna's name. In later life, he went on pilgrimages, became a religious leader, and introduced widespread congregational chanting of Krishna's names. He taught that chanting Krishna's name is the most effective means of spiritual perfection. Sri Chaitanya spent his last days in Puri, continuing to teach and hold religious discourses until his death
