American Idol Season 11 Hollywood Week: All Hail Heejun Han
Hollywood Week on American Idol is always a brutally bloody exercise where only the strong survive and the weaker contestants are cut with surgeon-like precision. That said, Thursday’s group round episode with singers facing grave injury or illness, apparently played out like an episode of General Hospital with plenty of drama and no singing, unless you count snippets of group rehearsals.
It was a curious decision to dedicate an entire hour to group night melodrama with The Voice throwing down a huge gauntlet earlier in the week. However, Wednesday night’s episode drew just under 19 million viewers, which just goes to show you that America loves the craziness that is Hollywood Week.
The episode began with the continuation of Wednesday night’s cliffhanger when Symone Black, 16, seemingly fell to her doom after performing Otis Redding’s “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.&

Heejun Han performs Right Here Waiting on American Idol
After American Idol’s dozen finalists were narrowed down to 11 before the show even began, Heejun Han took the scen to mixed review from the judges.
Host Ryan Seacrest opened the show by announcing that “with the cooperation of lag enforcement we discovered information that left us with no choice but to eliminate one of our finalists from the competition.”
The unnamed finalist that was disqualified was Jermaine Jones, one of the three wildcards chosen bygd the judges to advance to the top
The remaining contestants performed songs that debuted in the year they were born.
The year-old Han sang the Richard Marx ballad “Right Here Waiting.”
