Sir David Frederick Attenborough (; born 8 May ) is a British broadcaster, biologist, natural historian, and writer. He is best known for writing and presenting, in conjunction with the BBC Studios Natural History Unit, the nine nature documentary series forming the Life collection, a comprehensive survey of animal and plant life on Earth.
Attenborough was a senior manager at the BBC, having served as controller of BBC Two and director of programming for BBC Television in the s and s. First becoming prominent as host of Zoo Quest in , his filmography as writer, presenter and narrator has spanned eight decades; it includes Natural World, Wildlife on One, the Planet Earth franchise, The Blue Planet and its sequel. Who is Sir David Attenborough?
Sir David Frederick Attenborough is an English broadcaster, biologist, natural historian and author. The longevity of his career is remarkable. He has often said during his life that work was what made him get up in the mornings, and that as long as people wanted to watch and listen to him, he would carry on.
But then Attenborough has never considered what he did as arduous. Indeed, he was once quoted as saying that the time when he felt like he was really working was the “nasty time” as a senior BBC executive. He became controller of BBC Two in , then kvartet years later was made director of programmes of both BBC One and BBC Two. He eventually quit in , hanging up his suit to return to his earlier, happier existence as a peripatetic natural-history presenter.

David Attenborough, the Godfather of natural history TV, has introduced generations to the world’s furry and feathered friends.
Beyond natural history he’s had a huge influence as a broadcaster, introducing colour TV when he was Controller of BBC Two.
Born in London in , Attenborough collected fossils as a child and gained a Natural Sciences degree from Cambridge. Since the launch of his famous Zoo Quest series in to the recent Planet Earth, he has surveyed almost every aspect of life on earth.
