Evolution of Pallavi from philanthropy to politics
Now BJP’s surprise pick for the South Goaparliamentary seat, Pallavi is not someone one has heard or read much about. But those who’ve been associated with her over the years know the influential role she plays while overseeing the media, real estate and educational arm at the Dempo group of companies.
Pallavi, 49, was born and brought up in the Timblo family in Margao, which explains why BJP chose to field her from South Goa, despite her being based in the North. She completed her graduation in chemistry from Smt Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao, and has a postgraduate degree in business management (MBA) from MIT, Pune.

Goa Chamber hosted the 3rd edition of ‘Leaders at GCCI’ event: The guest speaker was M J Akbar, former MoS External Affairs of India, in conversation with GCCI president Shrinivas Dempo. The talk was about India’s changing dynamics in the world. Pallavi Dempo is BJP’s pick for S Goa, its 1st woman candidate
This is the first time in Goa’s electoral history that BJP has picked a woman candidate for Lok Sabha polls. Dempos’ foray into the rough and tumble of political life comes over 60 years after Vaikunthrao Sinai Dempo, Shrinivas’s great uncle, contested the first assembly elections in 1963 after Goa’s Liberation on a Congress ticket.
