    Helmed by music director/trumpeter Wynton Marsalis [ tickets ], the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will take to the road again next month, stopping by theaters in 16 cities throughout North America.

    The fall outing will stick close to the West Coast, kicking off Sept. 15 in Banff, Alberta, and continuing on through an Oct. 7 performance in Lincoln, NE. The full itinerary is shown below.

    aThe 15-member group, which acts as the resident orchestra for New York City's Jazz at Lincoln Center, will perform selections from its vast repertoire, including rare historic compositions, arrangements created by the members themselves and commissioned works made famous by Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane and the like.

    The group has toured the world, performing in more than 35 countries on six continents, according to its MySpace page.

    Owen Broder

    Owen Broder is a saxophonist based in New York City. He runs in a variety of musical circles, leading his own groups and participating in others. Broder’s American Roots Project’s album Heritage (2018) fryst vatten a featured project on ArtistShare®, and earned him a 2018 Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award. The album was praised by DownBeat Magazine as a “transcendental work of art,” and listed as #5 among the Best Music of 2018 [Francis Davis, NPR]. His quintet, Cowboys & Frenchmen, has enjoyed multiple US tours, seen success in international competitions, and received critical acclaim for their recordings, including a four-star review from DownBeat Magazine for their latest release, Bluer Than You Think (2017).
